What is Norwich Web?
Norwich Web is an interactive map for Norwich City Centre developed with the aim of promoting shopping, tourism, business and such like in Norwich. The map is in the form of a plan view of the City Centre and shows all the shops and businesses within a half mile radius from the City Hall. By hovering over any building the visitor to Norwich Web can access detailed information about that particular shop or business.
It was designed with the view that a picture is worth a thousand words making it easier and more enjoyable to use. It is Norwich on your computer.
What can Norwich Web be used for?
There are many potential uses of the website, just a few of them are:
• Quickly find addresses and telephone numbers for shops and businesses.
• Find all shops selling a particular product or service if you like to shop around.
• Find shops or shopping areas that you never knew about.
• Plan your shopping route.
• Find a shop by the road name.
• Access detailed information on a shop.
• Locate roads within the city centre.
• Shop online.
• Or simply just to enjoy City centre through the many links available.
How do I use Norwich Web?
There are two different ways to search either:
• Through the maps.
• Through the search engines.
Searching through the maps
The home page shows a high level map of the centre of Norwich and the different coloured segments show where greater detail is available on another map. To view one of these maps click a segment and the map will be displayed.
Alternatively there are quick links to any of the maps at the top of each page.
Each detailed map contains a plan view of the buildings with the names written on in brief. Moving the mouse over any building will display the full name. Clicking the building will open up the detailed information page for your selection.
Moving to an adjacent map is achieved by clicking the arrows around the outside of each map. If there is no arrow you have reached the edge of the map.
Searching through the search engines

The is opened from the main menu in the top left corner or at the bottom of each page by clicking ‘search’.
Text search engine by shop / business name.
Type in the name of the shop / business you would like to find and click search and the results will appear page. For speed and ease the first three letters only need to be typed in.
The shop / business searched for along with its product type and which map it is on will be displayed. Clicking on the company name will open up the detailed information page on that company. Clicking on the product type will list other companies offering the same product and clicking on the map link will show its location on the map.
Alphabetical search by company name.
This search page lists the alphabet across the page and clicking any letter will display all the shops / businesses beginning with that letter. Alongside the shop name will be the shop type and its corresponding map. Clicking on either three will display the relevant information.
Drop down list by products / services offered.
From the list choose any product or service and all companies providing that will be listed along with a link to the relevant map.
Drop down list of road names.
This will enable you to go directly to a particular road on the map. It is also a useful tool to find a shop when only the road name can be remembered.
Detailed information page.
This page contains detailed information on your selection. As a minimum it contains the address, telephone number and link to the map showing its location. Other information available is a link to the companies web page, email address, listing of additional products offered, prices, opening times, special offers, job vacancies, information about the company and shop photo.
